Come and enjoy the night sky in the Talayototic town of Torralba d'en Salort, one of the greatest and best preserved in Menorca. During summer nights, participate in the activity Starlight Torralba, guided by archaeologists entitled by the Fundaciostarlight, that you bring you stars and constellations from this exceptional scenario.

The Torralba Starlight project was born of interest in heritage education, astronomy, archeology and photography with stars. An opportunity to offer awareness and awareness activities on the importance of conserving the daytime and nocturnal sky, as well as to assess the Talaiòtic Torralba town of salort designated as World Heritage by UNESCO.

For interested groups to live a practical experience that combines the use of digital resources. An opportunity to explore the cosmos and make astronomical observation with binoculars and at first glance.

You will learn to know and identify the main constellations of the northern hemisphere, the Milky Way, planets and satellites in a playful and didactic way. Come learn by playing.

The Starlight experience is made by a monitor certified by the Starlight Foundation. The head of the project is Pedagogue, coordinator of leisure and free time and manager of cultural heritage and museology dedicated to heritage education in different tourist resources of the island of Menorca.

What will you see?

You will observe the main constellations visible in the northern hemisphere, the Milky Way and learn the mythological legends that identify them. In addition, you will discover how the inhabitants of more than 2500 years have conceived the sky from the Sanctuary of the Taula.

What includes

Guided night visit in the surroundings of the Taula de Torralba with Starlight certified monitors. Observation of the sky with didactic explanation of constellations, with optical instruments and visualization to the bare eye. Access to the site outside the usual schedule, visitor insurance and limited capacity.

Location

Torralba d’As Salort is between Alaior and Cala in Porter, in the southeast of Menorca.

  • By car or motorcycle: From Alaior, take the Me-9 road in the direction of Cala in Porter. About 4 km you will see the signal indicated by the detour to Torralba d’en Salort. There is free parking next to the entrance of the site.

  • In public transport: In summer, you can take a bus to Alaior or Cala in Porter and from there arrive by taxi (path of 5 to 10 minutes).
