The La Mola Fortress, o Fortaleza de Isabel II, domina la entrada al puerto de Maó desde la península del mismo nombre. Construida entre 1848 y 1875, es una de las mayores fortificaciones militares del siglo XIX en España y un lugar excepcional para descubrir la historia y el patrimonio de Menorca.

He 12 de agosto de 2026, además, La Mola será un enclave privilegiado para contemplar el eclipse solar total visible desde Menorca. Un acontecimiento astronómico extraordinario que podrá disfrutarse al atardecer en un entorno histórico y con amplias vistas al horizonte.

Location

How to get to the strength of the cool

By car or motorcycle: Follow the M-3 road from Maó (7 km). There is signaling "La Mola - Fortalesa Isabel II" and free parking next to the entrance.

In taxi: 10 min from the center of Maó; Orientative cost € 10-12.

By boat/waterxi: Departures from the port of Maó or Fonts Cales (Previous Reserve).

Bike or on foot: Via of service parallel to the M-3; 25 min by bike, 1 h 15 min walking.

Advice: If you come to the sunset visit, reserve taxi or waterxi in advance for the return.

Recommendation

It is recommended to wear comfortable footwear.
